Social Justice

Stand for Justice. Paige believes so strongly in social and criminal justice issues that it’s one of the first things on this website: Lead with Courage, Stand for Justice, and Make a Significant Difference in the Lives of Others.

Paige is committed to fostering a welcoming and supportive community in House District 17. To her, that means ensuring every member of these wonderful communities is valued, treated equally by our laws and legislation, and listened to earnestly by their representatives.

As State Representative, Paige will work hard to ensure that members of Oregon’s most marginalized communities are heard and consulted when legislators in Salem write their bills. Paige will fight for equity, equality, and justice for individuals of every race, ethnicity, background, and belief in her district. Read on to learn more about how her values shape how she will work for you in our State Legislature.

Social Justice. Our neighbors, friends, and family deserve to be safe and secure, no matter their race, sexual orientation, or identity. Every person deserves basic human rights and dignity. Paige wants to ensure every person in House District 17 feels welcomed, supported, accepted, and heard.

Paige believes in fair, equal, and equitable treatment under law for all people. She acknowledges that communities in Oregon have not always been treated fairly or equally in social or legal settings, and Paige wants to help address the historic disparity.

The issues of hate, intolerance, and violence need to be addressed in House District 17 just as they are being addressed across the nation. Look in the resources section below to read about how close to home some hate crimes take place. We are not exempt from the self-analysis and productive work taking place right now in the United States.

Paige is ready to add to voices in Salem advocating for police brutality, discrimination, and other forms of racially motivated actions to be addressed by the Legislature.

Paige supports the Black Lives Matter movement and looks forward to continuing to show up for her Black, Indigenous, and other Oregonians of color as a community member, Stayton City Councilor, and soon, as your State Representative.

LGBTQ+ issues are also close to Paige’s heart. As a Christian, a rural Oregonian, a mother, and a bisexual woman herself, Paige understands how critical legislative protections for LGBTQ+ people are to the community at large.

Paige knows that House District 17 is a beautiful area to call home. But she also knows there is work to be done so that everyone–regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or other personal identities–can proudly and safely call this area their home as well.

We are all trying to educate ourselves, challenge ourselves, and better ourselves. I want to take this opportunity to share some resources my team and I have found particularly helpful in our own, continuing, journeys toward allyship and action.
