Deep Roots, Rural Heart.

Paige and her family have called House District 17 home for seven generations. Her worldview and values were shaped by growing up in beautiful Linn County where she learned the value of family, community, and humbly serving others.

Paige understands what hard work really feels like. Since she was a child she has helped her family on farms in Oregon backcountry bucking hay, tending to cows, sheep, rabbits, and dozens of farm cats (every one of them had a name.) At 13 years old Paige worked with her cousin, the Scio Lamb and Wool Fair Queen, at Couey’s Summer Fruits off of Highway 226 outside of Albany. Couey’s was her first wage-earning job picking blueberries by the pound. She took her tractor and farm equipment safety class at 14 and worked the oat fields in the hot sun, flagged for field burning, and drove combine with friends over the summer before obtaining jobs in Stayton at Figaro’s Pizza and Roth’s Fresh Markets for the remainder of her teenage years.

The 1891 Shimanek Bridge in Scio, Oregon is said to have had a toilet built into it.

Seven Generations. Paige’s family has called Linn County home for over 100 years. Her great great great grandfather, John Shimanek, homesteaded not far from the red bridge that is part of what makes us the covered bridge capital of the west. Paige’s deep roots in her community have informed her values, inspired her passion, and motivated her candidacy for State Representative. The beautiful countryside with its vibrant, close-knit communities is more than the place Paige grew up, raised her family, and wants to retire. House District 17 is her past, present, and future. Paige Hook has the deep roots and rural heart of so many others in her community, and is ready to advocate for the interests of her district at the State Capitol in Salem.
